Thanks for asking us about this. Unfortunately, we can not determine your paternal ancestry by testing your son's DNA. As you suspected, to learn about your paternal lineage you would need to order a Genetic Ancestry Report for either your father, your father's brother (your uncle), your father's brother's son (your nephew), or your father's father (your grandfather).  Your son’s paternal lineage would only be your son's father’s paternal line, not yours. That said, a Genetic Health Report may help you learn more about your health, and the genes your father may have passed to you.
